Kerr drug store manager Vina Scott says she's tried almost every diet under the sun. At the most she says she loses three to five pounds and the diet becomes hard to stick with. So when Kerr drug brought the Tony Ferguson diet to town she decided to give it a go hoping she could shed some pounds to help lower her high blood pressure.

"I know what my goal is, I want to lose 50 pounds and I've already lost 13 in 2 weeks so I'm feeling good," said Scott. Scott has already trimmed four inches off her waist. "I'm bubbly, energetic, and I feel good about myself - I think I look great," said Scott.

So how does it work?

Pharmacist turned diet founder Tony Ferguson based the program on the glycemic index, or how much sugar is in all the foods we eat. Ferguson claims if you keep it below 55 on the glycemic index you will never put on weight. On the diet you replace breakfast and lunch with Ferguson's shakes or soups. "They are perfectly balanced with carbs, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and protein, so it's a complete meal," said Ferguson.

Ferguson says you don't get hungry because the meals are made with natural sugars like fructose and lactose that stabilize the blood sugar as opposed to many other shakes out there made with sucrose or sugar. "That just jolts your system and you're hungry in 90 minutes, but with ours you're not hungry for 4 to 4 1/2 hours," said Ferguson. "Then for dinner the diet lets you have a normal family dinner with lots of veggies and a palm sized protein."

Under this new program counselors are standing by seven days a week to help dieters with any questions or concerns at all Kerr drug stores in the lowcountry. "So Christmas, New Years, have a good time - we'll be there waiting for you on January 1," said Ferguson.
