Weight loss questions

How does the Program help me lose weight?

Our Program works by reducing your intake of calories and carbohydrates. This helps your body into a natural state of Ketosis so that your body starts using fat as a primary source of fuel, helping you spend more time each day burning stored fat.

The Tony Ferguson Weightloss Program is different from most other programs because it works quickly, is nutritionally sound and tastes great! But no program works without support, so we have a team of dieticians, nutritionists, pharmacists, and professionally trained staff, ready to answer your every query.

What is Ketosis?

Ketosis is the body’s process for turning fat into fuel. It’s completely natural, and occurs when carbohydrates are reduced. Ketosis produces Ketones as a by-product which, if allowed to build up, can cause a dull headache and an unusual taste in the mouth resembling acetone. By simply increasing your water intake, these symptoms will reduce. Ketones are also natural appetite suppressants.

Can I snack on the Program?

Yes, you can snack. You are allowed two pieces of low G.I. fruit per day and a minimum of three cups of low G.I. vegetables. You can also snack on our Tony Ferguson Sugar Free Gelatin. For advice on any other snack choices, please ask us at 1-866-518-0407.

What if I’m still hungry?

On the Program, there is no need to be hungry for more than 30 minutes. If you are regularly hungry or finding it difficult to stay with the Program, you can add more protein to your diet(e.g. eggs or meat). We can even tailor a special weekly program for you. Tony Ferguson Fiber may also be of benefit as it thickens the shakes and makes you fuller, in addition to aiding digestion.

What’s in the soups and shakes?

Our soups and shakes are 50% carbohydrate, 30% protein and 20% essential fats and nutrients.

What can I mix my soups and shakes with?

You should only mix with water. For a shake or soup, add 8 ounces of water. To make a shake into a delicious creamy mousse use 4 ounces of water.

Why have I been experiencing headaches and dizziness while on the program?

These symptoms are very common in the early stages of the Program. Usually, they are related to caffeine withdrawal and the detoxification of your body. Symptoms should not last for more than two days, and you’ll find drinking two liters of water per day may help. If symptoms persist, call us at 1-866-518-0407.

I’ve come down with a cold/flu, should I stay on the program?

Yes, but talk to one of our trained counselors who can advise you on the best eating plan for when you are not feeling well. Call us at 1-866-518-0407.

Do I need the Tony Ferguson Weightloss Booklet?

The Tony Ferguson Weightloss Program Weightloss Booklet is an indispensable part of the Program and plays a major role in helping you achieve success. It explains how your body loses weight, why other programs fail and how our Program is different. It also provides you with strategies to deal with tough days and all our Allowed Food lists..

Why should I take the Tony Ferguson Fiber supplement?

Tony Ferguson Fiber helps prevent constipation, a discomfort that may arise as a result of the Program. Fiber also helps stop the hunger feelings you may have when you first start the Program by bulking up your shakes. Be sure to take plenty of water with your Tony Ferguson Fiber.

Why should I take the Tony Ferguson Balanced multivitamin?

Tony Ferguson Balanced Mulitvitamin is specifically designed for our low carbohydrate Program, so you won’t be missing out on any essential nutrients. It has no added yeast, wheat, lactose, gluten, salt or other common fillers, so it won’t hinder your weight loss progress. Chromium has also been added to help the body to maintain blood sugar levels that are already normal.

Weight Maintenance questions

What happens when I reach my desired weight?

When you reach your desired weight, come and ask us about our Maintenance Program. This Program is designed to re-introduce foods back into your diet but looks at how much calories and nutrients you required each day and the best choices in each food group. You will receive a Program tailored to your nutritional requirements and will be provided with information on the different food groups and an example meal plan. Your Tony Ferguson Counselor or one of our friendly call centre counselors will go through the Program with you and answer all your questions. The Maintenance Program will cost you $30. This is a once of payment and you may still come into your local Tony Ferguson clinic anytime to be weighed or for advise, or may call our call centre on 1866 5180 407.

When can I go on the Maintenance Program?

Most people will go on Maintenance when they reach a weight at which they would like to maintain. However some people decide to go on Maintenance earlier for example if they would like a break from weight loss or are going away on holidays.

Stalled weight loss questions

Why have I stopped losing weight?

There can be several reasons for stalled weight loss but the main thing to remember is that it can be started again! Some reasons can be medical, others dietary – we’ll attend to your specific case on an individual basis. Don’t forget too, that the closer you are to your ideal weight, the slower your weight loss will be, so hang in there. See our Stalled weight loss page for more information.

NB:  Consult your doctor or healthcare professional for advice before starting on a weight loss program.
